Strengths and Weaknesses
I am currently completing an Advance Diploma in Equestrian Studies, at ARU Writtle University College. To gain industry experience, I volunteered for a week’s work experience at the Helen Cowley Riding Academy in Hatfield Broadoak in July 2023, and I currently work every weekend at a private dressage yard as a yard assistant. As part of my course, I gained work experience at Diamond Dressage. These opportunities have given me a good insight into the running of a yard and working in the Equine industry. To gain experience of other careers working with animals, I contacted local veterinary practices to request work experience. I completed a week experience at The Bishop’s Stortford Veterinary Hospital during my college summer holiday in August. During this week, I observed consultations led by the practice nurse and surgery conducted by the vets. This was a valuable opportunity to see how a veterinary practice operates and how my studies which focus on equine management, can transfer to other careers across the animal sector.
I am reliable, punctual, hardworking and polite. I aim to develop my independence and learn the value of working hard. I believe the skills I have from my volunteer and yard work help me follow a schedule, work as pat of a team and understand the importance of keeping to work policies and practices. I hope to start my paid career in the near future.
