Experience with Horses
I have worked with horses in the same workplace for over 10 years, managing the yard for around 7 of those. I have encountered a wide variety of shapes, sizes, types and backgrounds of horses. I have been teaching for years, both adults and children alike.
Key Skills
Key skills would include an excellent standard of turnout (clipping/trimming/plaiting). I have mainly worked in hunting, being very particular about how horses leave the yard, but my experience does extend to showing and eventing grooming as well. I would say I have a confident but sensible approach to riding any horse. Ground work (long reining and lunging) is key part of my work and my ability to gain the trust and comprehension of a horse. I believe this to be 100% essential to a well behaved and mannerly horse who enjoys their work.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love developing a relationship with each horse and understanding what makes them tick.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’d love to improve my own riding. I’m passionate about bettering my own skills in the saddle to complement natural feel and instinct.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am the hardest worker, I’m always the one doing extra, giving more time when required. The horses always come first.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
Ideally I’d love to have a job with plenty of riding but most importantly an employer who values their staff and respects the hard work they do.
• Do you need accommodation?
Not essential if within an hour of home but i wouldn’t want to travel more than that.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
Not at the moment.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
Yes, these can be discussed.
