Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding horses for 27 years and thoroughly enjoy being around them. I have owned my own horse for around 16 years and taken part in many Pony Club events. I currently event my horse to grassroots level and am a member of British Eventing. I very very competent around these animals and am used to riding competition-type horses. Alongside my passion for horses, I have skills of a personal assistant such as organisation and communication. I am also extremely resilient and love a challenge.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I enjoy working alone but also having a team around me. I am competent with clipping, I can plait the mane and french plait the forelock, I take great attention to detail when it comes to caring for the horse’s appearance and coat condition, I am proactive and always looking for ways I can improve.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy the sense of freedom and stress-relief that they give me. I love how you can bond so closely with one horse, this is really special.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to be given more opportunities to ride younger horses that I can help bring on.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I have many skills that would be appropriate for someone looking for a PA/groom/childcare as I have been a primary teacher and currently I am a PA for one person. Not only do I have great administration skills but I am also very competent around all animals. I put 100% effort into everything I do and I am always striving to be the best that I can be. I am very resilient and will keep going when I am passionate about something.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to continue working as a PA but with the possibility of supporting a yard with horse and pet duties as well.
• Do you need accommodation?
No.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No, although if there is a possibility to keep my horse there then I would consider this.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
My horse is my commitment and I compete him regularly on weekends throughout the year.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No.
