Experience with Horses/Key Skills

I’ve always had horses or have been around them. I currently own my own which I compete low level (plan is to go up the levels as far as I can with him) and well as a tricky late started by myself new forest gelding which I am going out and about with, plan is to sell him. the yard I’m working at does have a variety of horses all needing to be catered to differently. some are here to be backed and produced, schooling livery, sales, as well as a few ‘problem horses’ behavioural or pain related. I can say I am very confident around all types of horses.

The daily tasks include mucking out straw beds, turning out, rug changes and feeds some of which contains certain medications or supplement’s. the yard ranges of about 24 horses which I’m used to taking sole charge of and running threw day to day work. I confidently ride and lead as well as get lessons on a few if they are schooling or jumping includes some arena hire work which could include some babies first outings.

I do a lot of riding of breakers teaching them to be off the leg and forward, as well as steering and stopping. a lot of hacking where I get the rewarding feeling of the small things like their first trot, canter and jump under staddle. I would say I am confident to ride youngsters or even sensitive horse as a lot of the time these come to us. I can adapt my riding to the horse and would like to think that I am a quick learner.

I can confidently lunge/ long rein with or without aids however I am always wanting to learn and ask that riding is an opportunity as this is where my passion mostly lays. I don’t shy away from hard work and certainly live and breath horses in general and would just like to expand my knowledge in the industry.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy the fact that with horses no day is truly the same and just how rewarding the job actually is. being with like minded people is a bonus as well!

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I believe even with the smallest of things everything still has space to be improved however i would really appreciate help in the riding sector. to be able to ride more consistently and have the opportunity to be taught by someone with more knowledge .

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m outgoing but driven to learn. id be looking for something long term and actually want to gain the experience. I certainly take pride in what I do and strive to improve everyday.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

more experience in the industry on a different yard and the difference in riding.

• Do you need accommodation?
