Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding horses since I was four years old. When I was younger I focused primarily on dressage but did compete in three-day eventing. I have never owned my own horse as I have moved country every couple of years throughout my life but I have had horses on lease. When I came to Scotland for uni, I became involved in the Riding Club at my school, and eventually became president of the Club. Throughout uni I continued riding and spent summers working at different yards as an instructor. After completing uni, I looked to work full time with horses and began my current job as a Ride Leader and Instructor at the Crieff Hydro Riding Centre. Since taking on this role, I have began gathering qualifications and am now a certified as a TRSS Ride Leader, BHS Stage 1 complete (set to take Stage 2), and RDA Coach-in-training. In my job at the Hydro we have about 40 horses on property and directly care for about 20 of those as part of the riding school or on working livery. I have gained experience running sessions, running the yard, as well as ensuring our horses receive top tier care. While I have enjoyed working at the Hydro, I am looking for a more riding based role, particularly working with and producing young horses.
