Experience with Horses
I have worked at the Fortune Centre of Riding therapy for the last 4 years as an assistant and in the last year, I have progressed my career into an equine lead role which involves managing a small yard of horses and their care. I have also owned my own horses for the last 4 years. I have undertaken my BHS exams up to Stage care and lunge as well as my stage 2 coach. I plan to continue to work my way through my stage exams.
Key Skills
I regularly clip horses and have an attention to detail. I am able to work well independently and in a team based culture. I have excellent time management skills. I have good observation skills to contact changes in horse condition or behaviour. I work to a high standard with routine tasks such as plaiting, show turnout, bandaging, mucking out and general horse care management. I ride to a good standard and regularly ride my own horse including jumping. I have excellent communication skills.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• Working with horses is very rewarding and provides extraordinary experiences and opportunities to learn and develop my career. I enjoy the fast pace environment and being active.
• I would like to progress through my BHS qualifications and continue to grow as a groom/rider.
• I am very reliable and motivated to work with horses and continue to learn and develop my knowledge. I possess a variety of skills required for the role and always work to the best of my ability.
