Experience with Horses
As with most equestrians , I have been around horses most of my life. Unlike most children however I never managed to go to Pony club or go out competing when I was younger, that had to wait untill a bit later in life . What I did lots of as a child was to learn about horses body language and would spend hours watching them interact. I was very fortunate to find a very wise horsewoman who had experience all over the world who showed me how to interact with and help ‘problem’ horses.
My love and passion to learn more about horses has stuck with me and continues to this day. I own two of my own . I have regular lessons and compete in working equitation.
I have worked within the equine world now for over 8 years in both livery , private and policing yards.
Key Skills
My skills as an employee would be that I am a great team player, I adapt quickly to the needs of others around me to assist them. I am a bubbly person who always to promote fun within the work place whilst still remaining professional. If solo work is what is required I’m trustworthy with a sensible head for decision making.
When working with any horse I am kind and considerate. I always try and do what is best for the horses I work and treat them as individuals.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love interacting with them on a daily basis and getting to know thier characters. I also enjoy working outside and not being stuck in an office!
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Always! I am always wanting to improve my own and learn new techniques.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m very adaptable, I will learn to work alongside your team and with your methods and routine. I’m also someone who thinks logically and will offer suggestions if appropriate and always have the horses best interests at heart.
I’m professional and can happily communicate with people , be it owners or visiting professionals.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I also happy to work in any position within my next job. Ideally I would like either a long standing position that will offer a little variety and growth or a place where I can progress myself.
• Do you need accommodation?
No but for the right job I would consider moving after a period of trial.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
If live in – I do have a dog. My two horses will most likely live off site.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
My current position requires 30 days notice.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
I have the occasional weekend of competition which I will happily discuss.
Thankyou for reading,
Rhian
