Experience with Horses
I have ridden and worked with horses since a very young age.
I was a part of a group called “Kellies Ponies” from the age of 4-10 buying and selling ponies and horses, from breaking them and competing, to give them to best experience possible to then be sold to the best homes.
I then went on to racing, where I was a part of a team called JPL. We would race all year round at different shows across the country at places such as Epsom and Gatcombe, to finish at The Royal International Horse Show in London.
I have always owned horses, but sold my own when I got older due to exams etc, but I’m desperate to get back into it.
I am an extremely confident rider, and don’t mind a fresh horse or being thrown off. I’m more than happy to do it all and take on any jobs.
I have had a corporate job for a few years now, and I know now more than ever I want to get back into horses.
Key Skills
I have ridden and handled both ponies and horses for years, including stallions and very young horses.
im very happy to work independently and on my own initiative.
Fully experienced in grooming, bathing and plaiting and prepping for shows!
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
For me, the most enjoyable part about working with horses is growing with not only your horse but the environment around you too. It opens up so many pathways, and being able to work doing what you love is my number one priority.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Since it’s been a few years since I worked with horses as much as I would like, I do believe there is a lot more I can learn. I don’t feel as though I will ever be done learning when it comes to horses. There are so many things I thought I knew years ago that I know now I could have improved on. Specifically noticing when a horse may be unhappy due to underlying issues or health concerns. I know this is not always the case for certain behaviours, but it is something I would love to learn more about.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am truly ready to put my all into any job thrown at me, and want to be able to make a career out of doing what I love. I’m eager to learn, happy to be told if there are things I can do better or differently, and am finally ready to put my words into actions about how important horses are to me.
