Experience with Horses

I have over ten years of experience with horses and five years of professional experience in the equine industry. My background includes working at professional event yards, livery yards, private yards, and riding schools. I successfully produced my own horse from a young age and now compete at BE80.

Academically, I achieved a Distinction Distinction Distinction (DDD) in my Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Equine Management. I have also completed my BHS Stage 1 qualification and am actively working towards Stages 2 and 3. Additionally, I have a strong knowledge-based foundation in equine science, having completed my first year of a BSc in Equine Performance Science.

I am now transitioning from my academic studies to gain full-time, hands-on experience within the industry, further developing my practical expertise and professional skills.

Key Skills

I have extensive experience working with young horses, including handling, groundwork, and early training to support their development. I am confident in working independently, taking initiative to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. My experience includes handling fit, high-performance sport horses, requiring patience, precision, and a calm, professional approach. I am highly skilled in groundwork, using correct techniques to improve horse behavior, responsiveness, and overall performance. Additionally, I excel in professional communication, maintaining clear and effective interactions with colleagues, clients, and industry professionals. Strong time management skills allow me to work efficiently under pressure while upholding the highest standards of horse care and yard management.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Horses have been my lifelong passion, and I find great fulfillment in working with them every day. The opportunity to contribute to their development, well-being, and performance is incredibly rewarding. My undivided dedication to the equine industry drives me to continuously expand my knowledge and skills, ensuring I provide the highest level of care and training.

Requirements

  • What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
In my next role, I am eager to gain further hands-on experience working with a variety of horses, including different temperaments, training levels, and disciplines. I am looking for an opportunity that provides a structured and consistent routine, allowing me to refine my skills and deepen my industry knowledge. Stability in my role is important to me, as I am committed to long-term professional growth within the equine sector.
  • Do you need accommodation?
No, I do not require accommodation as I live at home and can commute to work as needed.
  • Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No, I do not have any special requirements, as my horse is stabled elsewhere.
  • Do you have any ongoing commitments?
My horse is on DIY livery, so I may have some time constraints outside of standard working hours. However, I am flexible and willing to adjust my schedule when necessary, provided I have prior notice. I am committed to meeting the demands of my role and can make arrangements to accommodate any additional requirements when needed.
  • Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
