Experience with Horses

I have worked with a variety of horses from a young age, owning my own horses since the age of 9. My passion is horses, I am knowledgeable and capable of looking after all types of horses, very reliable and a confident rider. I have a lot of experience liaising and working with people in my non-equine roles and some equine from when younger. I have worked on yards up until the age of 22, including living on a Canadian ranch for a summer, before moving to London for a corporate role. I have experience in being a private PA, nanny and housekeeper, as well as house sitting and looking after the home, horses, dogs, etc, whilst the family is away. I also have experience in running a Bed & Breakfast family establishment in the New Forest, with many transferable skills to my non-equine and equine roles.

I grew up being a member of the Pony club, attending summer camps, rallies, etc. I have competed unaffiliated in dressage, showing, show jumping and cross country up to 80cm and hunted, I also participated when I was in Canada in barrel racing and groomed for the rodeos. I have experience with green horses and young horses, currently producing my own youngster, including rehabilitating horses. Growing up in the New Forest my favourite activity, is hacking across the forest!

Key Skills

I hold a Riding & Road safety qualification in equine, my other qualifications are non-equine related. I hope to study alongside to gain further equine qualifications.

Currently working within the corporate world and looking to either get back into the equestrian world alongside my remote career or a complete career change becoming full time in the equestrian industry. I have lots of experience within relationship and client management, I specialise in everything being completed to the highest standard within my work, home, and when looking after my own horse and dog. I am particularly good at keeping everything neat and tidy, mucking and turning out to a high standard and always being asked to clip my friends horses!

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I think most people can relate when I say just being around horses is good for the soul and mind! They can bring so much joy and sometimes unpredictability to our lives, but the bond with a horse is most rewarding.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

It would be great to gain more experience within the areas I haven’t had the chance to be able too as yet, this would be within breeding, showing and racing yards. Aware that there is always something I can improve on or to better myself, I have an optimistic outtake on life and really enjoy learning new skills.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I have a deep passion for horses, animals and the outdoors. Aware that I am not as equine qualified but, combining my non-equine with my equine skills I can can offer peace of mind, reliability, continuity and my time to the best of my ability.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I am a people person and so working from home full time, you miss the human connection. I also enjoy being practical and have a very caring side, it would be nice to be able to share this and combine it with my life long love for horses, be great to also get out from behind a computer screen!

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes please I would need accommodation, unless it is close by to me already.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I have a dog who is generally with me most of the time and is used to farm/yard environments, she regularly hacks out with me on my horse across the forest. I would like the option to bring my 8 year old mare, this would be once I have settled in I wouldn’t move her across immediately.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I currently work from home full time and have flexibility around my remote role.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

I have the following holiday’s booked for this year:

8th – 21st May

5th – 15th July
