Experience with Horses:

-I have ridden since the age of three, I am now 26, with a break of around 3 years whilst studying at university. I have recently started (since January). Supporting James Adams at his eventing/showjumping stables. This is including riding/hacking, grooming, lunging, general yard duties, along with working with stallions and young horses.

Key Skills

I have always been good at maintaining a high standard of cleanliness since I was a young girl with her first pony. I like everything right, everything clean and tidy. Always looking after my tack, and grooming my horses to an inch of their lives. I am patient and understanding with all horses, young old and in between, willing to turn a hand to any situation.

I enjoy being part of a team, especially when working in the NHS this is something we have to be especially good at due to constantly linking in with the wider multidisciplinary team.

I am and always have been very keen to learn new skills and acquire knowledge, therefore I take on board any feedback without dismay and put into practice any recommendations.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I love being outdoors, cold and warm.

I have always had a passion for anything horses, therefore a job working with horses is actually a dream scenario.

I love seeing progression of a horse and rider, understanding the hard work and dedication behind any success.

Hard work and manual labour is something I do really enjoy, I regularly attend the gym to ensure I stay fit and healthy, but being active with lots of physical activity at work is really appealing.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Unfortunately, plaiting up a horse/clipping is something that I am not awfully great at. However is something I am willing to work hard at and practice to change this weakness to a strength.

Riding a young horse is something I have not been overly exposed to, I have had a 4yro of my own. Which I found very rewarding and enjoyable. But since that, I have been on newly backed however hacking only and have not being involved in any further schooling work/bringing them on. I have also not jumped a horse in a long while, but again all things I am more than willing to work at.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am dedicated, hard working, reliable and great at time keeping which I know is hugely important when working with horses to keep the cogs moving.

I am also going to uni to study veterinary physiotherapy so would be able to again put new skills and knowledge to use with any horse that may need it.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

Work on my weaknesses as previously stated.

-More riding experience, I have rode since the age of 3 however since my break of three year I haven’t jumped since then, I also don’t have much experience in bringing young horses on other than hacking newly backed horses out.

-Properly trained to groom and prepare a horse for competition.

• Do you need accommodation?

-If outside of north east yes. Ideally with the option of dog and partner living there.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

-dog

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

-no. Other than working NHS. Two month notice required.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

-Yes, Bali in June for 3 weeks.
