Experience with Horses
I have been working with horses for the past four years. I started riding at a local riding school, and I now work part-time at this riding school. I also attend Duchy College where I have completed my City and Guilds level 1 in horse care and am working towards level 2 currently. Within this time I have also obtained BHS stage 1 and silver ride safe qualifications.
My duties have included the following, many of which I do daily:
Turning horses in and out of the stables
Mucking out in full
Tacking up and untacking
Cleaning tack
Grooming, including bathing
Yard maintenance including brushing up and painting stables
Field maintenance including poo picking, ragworting, fencing, filling waters and hay
Assist in teaching pony club
Assist with instructing
Lunging
Long reigning
Leading
Taking out group hacks as a leader
Exercising horses
Key Skills
I work best alone but can work well with others when needed, I am a natural leader, who thrives on being organised with tasks and timings. I am motivated when given a written list of tasks. I don’t give up easily and I am a responsible person.

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
The things I enjoy about working with horses are, the individuality of each and every horse and how each has its own personality. I also enjoy watching horses thrive in their environment and helping them improve physically.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’d like to improve my platting and clipping skills. I’d also like to improve my instructing skills.
