Experience with Horses
Experienced groom with a background in animal and business management. Capable of all yard duties, including grooming, mucking out and filling haynets to a high standard. Able to work in a team or own initiative as required. Keen to start a career in the equestrian industry and willing to learn.
Key Skills
- Well-organised and always able to keep areas presentable.
- Always keen to learn new skills.
- Can walk and trot confidently while riding.
- Basic understanding of some skills such as plaiting.
- Able to hack out solo, both in traffic and off-road.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I love being around horses in general and being a positive part of their lives. I love taking care of them, no matter the weather, as well as learning new ways of doing tasks. I would like to expand my knowledge of grooming outside of a riding school environment and I would be keen to undertake any BHS training if this is an option.
Requirements
I would like to gain more experience in the competition sector and learn more about competition grooming. I would require accommodation if I need to travel long distance, but if you are located in Tyne and Wear, this may not be the case. I would be living on my own and would not be bringing any pets or my own horse. The yard would need to be located on or near public transport, as I cannot drive due to a disability (this does not affect my ability to work). I have a week at the end of June that I’m booking off for a holiday.
