Experience with Horses
I have had horses all my life to which made me want to study them. I have a national diploma in horse management which was a 2 year course. My final grades were a distinction, distinction, merit. I have been with my current employer for 17 years both at home and at away shows. She is currently away at the moment competing around the world so I manage her yard at home. Her yard consists of 2 of her own horses and 4 liveries.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at?
I’m very much an all rounder. I’m very good at working on my own or in a team. I am able to muck out and complete a yard to a high standard. I’m extremely reliable and loyal. Having worked a long side a vet for the past 17 years, I’m also very knowledgeable with animal first aid and what to do in any sort of emergency.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I really enjoy looking after horses from the ground and building a relationship with them. The feeling of when you get that trust of a horse is the most amazing feeling.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
There is nothing in particular that I would like to improve on but I am a true believer that you can always improve prove and learn even if you have been in the job as long as I have. I still learn things now and my knowledge still grows.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m extremely reliable and loyal. Any animals that I have looked after have always been looked after to a high standard and as if they are my own. I’m friendly and bubbly and easy to get along with. I’m very approachable for others.
