- Experience with Horses
I have over 20 years of hands-on experience working with horses, combining practical equestrian care with leadership and management. At Stowe School, I oversaw the daily operations of the equestrian center—developing tailored exercise programs and leading a dedicated team to ensure every horse receives exceptional care. My time with Team Way Eventing provided invaluable, ground-level experience in grooming, feeding, training and preparing horses for high-level competition. In running my own veterinary physiotherapy practice and managing a rehabilitation yard, I designed bespoke recovery programs that enhanced my understanding of equine health and performance. On a personal level, owning and training my own horses and competing in British Dressage have enriched my perspective on horse management, blending real-world challenge with rewarding success.
Key Skills
Here’s a summary of my key skills, drawn from over 20 years of hands-on experience with horses:
– Leadership and Team Management: I’ve effectively led teams at Stowe School and managed rehabilitation centers, ensuring smooth operations and high standards of care for both horses and staff.
– Equestrian Management and Welfare: My background includes designing tailored exercise programs and overseeing the daily running of equestrian centres, with horse welfare always at the forefront.
– Veterinary Physiotherapy Expertise: I have strong skills in developing and executing evidence-based rehabilitation programs, developed through both my private practice and work at larger facilities.
– Operational and Strategic Planning: I bring extensive experience in budgeting, scheduling, and strategic operations, whether managing an equine centre or running a veterinary practice.
– Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: I’ve built strong relationships with veterinarians, trainers, event organisers, and policy-makers, ensuring effective collaboration across various areas of the equestrian community.
– Event Coordination and CPD Delivery: I have organized educational events, clinics, and professional development programs, contributing to continuous improvement in the industry.
– Business Development and Administrative Skills: Running my own practice has honed my abilities in client communication, marketing, and efficient office management.
– Regulatory Compliance and Safety: I’m well-versed in ensuring adherence to health, safety, and licensing requirements within equestrian environments.
– Personal Involvement and Passion: Beyond my professional roles, owning and training my own horses—including competing in British Dressage—has given me unique insights and a deep personal commitment to equine excellence. Whilst also demonstrating competition preparation skills and day to day management of horses from foals to geriatrics
