Experience with Horses

I have ridden and been around horses since I was very young and was involved in a wide range of Pony Club activities from age 6 right up to 16 and completed all my tests up to my C+
I have never owned my own horse, but this has given me the opportunity to ride a wide variety of horses/ponies. I currently have an ex-eventer on full loan who reached BE 100 previously and is now teaching me the ropes. I have competed her locally throughout the 2+ years I have loaned her (dressage, SJ, XC) and we also completed our first ODE last summer.
Last winter I had the opportunity to work with a young event horse, keeping him fit, taking him to local competitions and clinics to bring him on further. I felt I learned a lot from him about riding and handling your horses.
After 8 months’ work experience at a riding school , I found myself a part-time paid position as an assistant on a private yard of nine very different horses. As well as all the usual yard chores, I regularly exercise them and also help my employer when she wants to drive them to carriage
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am competent in all areas of event preparation and have ridden a wide variety of horses and ponies and believe I know how to get the best out of them. I am confident working alone but also enjoy being part of a team.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Mainly just being around horses most of the time, connecting with them and seeing them thrive but also, it’s the kind of work that allows me to be outside, which I have always enjoyed.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I believe there is always something to learn and am keen to improve all aspects of my horsemanship.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Because I have lots of relevant experience and have always got along well with all my employers.

I would like to keep learning and build on my experience somewhere new, where there will hopefully be more opportunities than where I currently live.
