EXPERIENCE
Freelance groom — may 2023 – current
I am currently self employed as a freelance groom in my area. In the two years being self employed, I have been incredibly lucky to gain a huge amount of experience in a variety of yards. These include but are not limited to, professional dressage yards, Paralympic dressage trainers, livery yards, private yards, and our local RDA. Due to this I have experience handling and grooming stallions, young horses and competition horses. I have offered everything from general yard duties, clipping and tidying, riding, lunging, long reining and groundwork.
Lower farm livery — October 2022 – March 2023
Lower Farm is a local livery yard which offers a variety of packages to around 15 liveries. During my time here I assisted with all day-to-day runnings of the yard, including field management and arena maintenance. and liaised with liveries, vets, farriers, riders etc on behalf of the yard owner and horse owners. I was given the opportunity to manage another employee which I thrived in.
Hopleys farm — September 2021 – September 2022
Hopleys Farm is a private specialist biomechanics and barefoot rehabilitation yard which aims to assist owners who are struggling with soundness issues and behavioural problems. I often was in sole charge of this yard of ~18 horses and ponies, which gave me experience with a wide range of horses from Icelandic ponies to shire horses and hunters. My role included all general yard duties as well as lunging, schooling, hacking, field maintenance, foot trimming, feed orders, and organising open/clinic days.
EDUCATION
Sanders school — September 2015 – June 2020
I gained 9 GCSEs in my time at Sanders School at a minimum grade of 6
Sparsholt college – September 2020 – June 2021
I gained a LV3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Animal Management while at Sparsholt College.
Social skills
I pride myself on my great communication skills, and my ability to remain pragmatic in stressful situations. My positivity, confidence and kindness has been noted by my previous employers and colleagues.
Organisational skills
My attention to detail and remaining focused and time efficient while producing work of particularly high standards comes naturally to me. I strive to create work that I am proud to present to owners and clients. I am not afraid of working unsociable hours that others may find difficult.
Additional info
I hold a UK Automatic Drivers Licence and own my own vehicle. I am a clean, organised and eager to please employee. My passions lie in equestrianism and becoming the best groom I can be. My goal is to become ‘part of the furniture’ in a group of likeminded professionals. I am lucky to own 2 ridden horses, 2 shetlands and 1 foal who are my pride and joys.
