Experience with Horses
I have 13 years of hands-on equine experience, I have a level 3 Equine management diploma, during which I gained valuable experience riding and caring for a wide variety of different horses. I currently have a mare on full loan and have previously part-loaned two other horses, allowing me to develop a consistent and practical understanding of horse care and management. Over the past year, I’ve done a bit of freelancing near home, where I’ve been exercising horses independently, including confident solo hacking. I am confident both on the ground and in the saddle. I can carry out all the usual yard duties to a good standard. I am also competent in lunging, bathing, tack cleaning, and usual grooming. But I am still building up my clipping and plaiting skills. I’m open to both ridden and non-ridden roles and I am particularly keen to gain further experience across a range of yards and disciplines. I’m enthusiastic, dependable, and always looking to grow my knowledge and take on new opportunities.
Key Skills
- Working alone and in a team
- Grooming ( I can get a horse looking neat it’s just my plaiting and clipping which needs work)
- Standard yard duties
- Tack cleaning
- I’m confident in handling most horses
- I can keep calm in high-pressure situations
- I can get on with a job and work at a good pace
Strengths and Weaknesses
- I’ve not had the experience of grooming competitively so these are my weaker areas such as plaiting
- I can clip, but I need more practice
- I’m a dedicated and hard worker
- I’m friendly and I get along with most people I come across
- I’m always on time for work and sometimes even arrive early
- I can be trusted to work alone (Taking horses out hacking alone)
- I always try my best
