Experience with Horses
I have been around horses since I was 3 years old. I this time I have ridden at a riding school, loaned, owned, worked with and produced horses. I produced my last mare from a 4 year old who progressed on to compete BSJ and events unaffiliated to 1.10m. I have been out of the saddle for a couple of years but have still been working with horses in this time. This includes all basic care jobs (mucking out, poo picking, turning out etc.) for a range of horses and ponies with no issues.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at?
I am good at and have experience with a range of skills including: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling competition fit horses, handling/riding young horses, time management, problem solving, along with using my own initiative.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I have always enjoyed working with horses. I find immense satisfaction seeing horses progress and being able to be a part of that progression. I have worked with a number of horses who have had previous issues who have gone on to be incredible equines and nothing feels better than seeing this come from your own work.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to get an understanding of the different ways people deal with different horses. Although I have an abundance of experience I believe there is always more to learn and I think given the opportunity I would be able to further expand my knowledge to be able to continue to give the best care to horses.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am an incredibly hard worker and I put the care and wellbeing of horses as a top priority. I understand the hard work and dedication that goes in to horses and I know that I can work well both individually and in a team to provide the best care.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
Ideally I would like to further expand my knowledge and skills in a new area of the equine world, but I am also happy working in an environment I have already experienced to deepen my understanding in an existing area.
• Do you need accommodation?
No.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No.
