Experience with Horses

I have been riding for 10 years, the first few years were in riding schools but i have now owned my own horses for 5 years. I have mainly hunted and team chased my horses as well as competing in hunt relays at county shows. I have completed 2 weeks of work experience at the Avon and Somerset mounted police and a couple of months at my local hunt kennels helping with the upkeep of the hounds. I have also had a summer job at collective equestrian working with top level dressage horses and in 2023 I was Sunday girl for my local hunt kennels caring for the horses. I have recently completed my first year level 3 equine management. I often ride friends horses out hunting when they are too much and exercise them week days when they go on holidays.

Key Skills

I can muck out to a high standard and keep the yard/stables clean and presentable, I can plait with thread or bands, I am a confident rider who is willing to ride any horse.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I most enjoy the small moments that make you smile although they do not happen all the time they are worth it, I also enjoy the day to day jobs that keep the horses happy and healthy as-well as riding and the different opportunities that this provides.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would most like to improve my clipping skills as I do not have much experience with this. I would also like to improve mane and tail pulling/trimming to a high level.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m a hard worker who is always willing to learn new ways to do things as well as learning new things about horses. I take pride in my work and like to keep my area clean and tidy throughout the day.
