Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been working with horses for longer than I can remember. From the age of 11 I have been volunteering on many different types of yards including livery yards, riding schools, racing yards and sales yards. This gave me a valuable insight into what it’s like working with horses from a very young age and I was able to gain lots of hands-on experience. Then when I was 16, I was offered a job working out in Spain for the met tour with some showjumpers during this time I learn how to properly care and prepare top horses including stallions for a international event. When I got back from Spain, I then completed a level three riding grooms apprenticeship in which I received a distinction for. After completing my apprenticeship, I have mostly been freelance which has allowed me to go back and experience all different types of yards with the knowledge that I now have.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I have experienced both working in a team and individual environment. I have turned out horses to an international show standard. I can plot an industry standard speed but my clipping speed could use some improvement. I have handled lots of young horses and stallions before, and II have experienced both working in a team and individual environment. I have turned out horses to an international show standard. I can plot a industry standard speed but my clipping speed could use some improvement. I have handled lots of young horses and stallions before, and I have a good amount of experience with riding these types of horses. I have also show jumped my own horse to a newcomers level BS. I have produced my horse myself, from re-breaking and rehabbing her to now us taking each other up the levels of BS.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love watching the horses grow and improve and being part of that journey.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
as I said above my clipping speed could use some improvement and I would love to continue to improve my riding as well.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I work hard because I love the horses and I thrive to see them happy and healthy.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would love to be somewhere that allows me to improve and develop my riding and possibly even be able to train with my own horse to help me be able to continue to develop her education.
• Do you need accommodation?
This would be dependent on the location of the job.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
