Experience with Horses
I have 19 years of experience around horses, 8 years of those I have been working in professional settings such as livery yards, riding schools and trekking centres. Within these jobs I gained skills in horse management, feeding regimens, stable and field maintenance. I have experience with starting young horses under saddle and rehabbing horses after injuries or bringing them back into work. I have a certificate in horse and stable management through the BHS and also my veterinary physiotherapy degree from Writtle University.
Key Skills
I am good at working within a team and individually and have great time management skills. I do all my jobs to the best of my ability but am able to take corrections. I am a capable handler and have experience with young horses, competition horses and RDA horses. I have experience in retraining horses and it’s something I enjoy as it’s allowed me to expand my groundwork and lunging skills. I am still developing my show turnout skills but it is something I’d like to develop.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• I love caring for horses and minding to their individual needs so that they are comfortable and cared for to the best of my abilities. I love building relationships with the horses and learning their mannerisms and likes/dislikes
• I would like to improve my show turnout skills and also retraining skills
• I work hard and am a quick learner. I am willing to expand my knowledge when working with others but I am also capable of working individually
Requirements
• I would love to gain more experience in show turnout as well as retraining and rehabilitation of horses as this is where my interests lie
• Depending on the location of the job to where I currently live I may need accommodation
• I have two exracehorses that I would like to bring with me if the job requires that I need to move
• Currently I work a couple of other jobs so would need to give notice
• I have no holidays currently booked
