Experience with Horses
I have been working with horses for over a decade, with experience in both livery and riding centres. I attended Writtle University College between 2019 and 2022 where I developed fist aid, stud, nutritional, saddle fitting, and backing training. I have my BHS stage 2 complete and BHS stage 3 care and lunge.
Key Skills
I have developed a strong independent work ethic, and can work well as part of a team or alone. I can plait, clip, bandage, lunge and longrein. I have experience working with nervous horses and am a trained Equine Behaviour Consultant.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy watching horses learn new skills and develop their brain and body. I also enjoy the physical labour aspects of working with horses and take pride in my mucking out and poo picking.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
There is always room to improve in any skill set. I hope to continue working towards my BHS stage 4 care and BHS stage 3 coach.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
My skill set regarding positive handling and my knowledge of behavioural issues through my BSc allow a different perspective on the yard.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
Push my physical skills and problem solving to create a lasting impression wherever I go.
• Do you need accommodation?
No
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have a whippet who is used to horses and can settle in a crate, kennel, or car. He can stay home and does not need to come with me.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
18-22nd August
