  1. Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I’ve worked with horses for over 10 years in both riding schools and top-level racing yards. I trained at the British Racing School and completed both Level 2 and 3 apprenticeships while working at William Haggas’s yard, where I progressed to Assistant Head Person. My experience includes mucking out, feeding, travelling, administering medication, grooming to a high standard, and riding out. I’ve also worked at High Beech Riding School, assisting with lessons and general yard duties. I’m reliable, practical, and always take pride in maintaining high standards. I’d enjoy continuing to ride where possible, but it’s not essential for the right role.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I take pride in turning horses out to a very high standard and always aim to keep both horses and the yard looking their best. I’m confident handling young horses, including colts and yearlings, and have experience riding them away in a racing yard setting. I’m also capable and tidy when clipping. I’m happy working both independently and as part of a team, and I always try to stay calm, focused, and reliable in any situation.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I really enjoy turning horses out to a high standard and making sure they look and feel their best. I take pride in their care and love seeing their progress, whether that’s in their work or behaviour.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I’m always keen to keep learning and improving in all areas. I believe there’s always more to pick up, and I’ll take any opportunity to build on what I already know.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m hardworking, reliable, and bring a solid base of experience—especially from high-standard racing yards. I know I still have plenty to learn, but I’m willing to put the effort in and always give my best. I’m hands-on, practical, and never stand idle.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I’d love the chance to keep learning, possibly explore a different side of the industry, and if the opportunity to travel came up, that would be a bonus. Most of all, I’m just looking to develop my skills and take on a new challenge.

• Do you need accommodation?

Accommodation would be ideal, but it’s not essential—some help finding something nearby would definitely be appreciated.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

No animals to bring.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I’d like to have at least every other weekend off (or 1 in 3) for family commitments if possible.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

22nd-25th August 2025
