Experience with Horses

I’ve got great yard skills, I’m quick, tidy, and efficient. I can handle foals, youngstock, fresh, green, young, high level, broodmares, all horses and stallions correctly. Been in the industry over 20yrs. I want to concentrate on riding, competing, show prep so I can go solo in the industry one day. I’ve worked at studs, event yards, livery yards, big, small, private, show jumping and dealership style yards. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and patience but I just want to be able to find a friendly place, to further my show jumping skills and be extremely confident in who I am in the equine industry. I can ride well on the flat, I can confidently jump, and hack, lunge, walk out, rehabilitate. I can work in a team and do sole charge. Can handle management too.

Key Skills

Management, sole charge, handling on the ground schooling and hacking. Breaking, backing but not producing. (I want to learn that to a high standard) jumping, rehab. I am a bubbly person, always full of high energy but professional. I don’t event, but can jump to a good standard and have jumped up to 1.30. Dressage isn’t a strong point for me, however I can school, get a horse moving correctly, do flying changes I have very good feel for the horse I am riding. I’m a quiet handler, I treat all horses with a lot of love and respect on the ground and in the saddle! Quiet hands, stiff posture and good with my voice.

Strengths and Weaknesses

My can do attitude, willingness to learn, honesty and the fact I understand this is a lifestyle not just a job. I have my own ambitions in this industry but I want to find a place I can settle down, work hard and become a much better rider and equestrian in a few years.  I know what I’m capable of and I won’t do anything I don’t think I can do, however I will always push to do new things. I’m brave, I still bounce if I do fall off, I’m confident, I learn very very quickly and I always want to learn how to something new, or master my current skills.

I can be there for the vets, farriers etc. I can inject horses (oxy and those types of things) I can handle foals from birth, get them used to being led/handled. Also good with the mummies!

I can handle hot horses, young professional horses and the ‘happy hacker’ types.

I can organise and manage all yards, keep things neat, tidy and have a good time schedule. Keeping ontop of tack, keeping rugs dry, ropes of the floor all the little things.

my weakness at the moment is definitely my lower leg needs pinning, and I just need to work on my upper body posture. Those doesn’t effect my riding as such, just don’t look as pretty as I’d like.

on a side note – I can look after all animals, house sit etc.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Lower leg, core, advanced jumping. Plaiting and show prep.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

my can do attitude, willingness to learn, honesty and the fact I understand this is a lifestyle not a job. I am extremely skilled, with loads to offer. I want to learn, I want to succeed and I want to enjoy my time around horses. I have a lot of drive. I am reliable, honest and keen. I can live in or out, I drive, I can drive automatic cars and/or buggies. Fit, strong and healthy.
