Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been involved in the equestrian industry for my whole life, where I have worked for an eventing yard, grooming at events across the country. I have worked with horses abroad in the US, teaching and managing a yard, and in Australia where I worked with and helped produce young horses at a stud yard. I have also competed in showjumping, eventing and dressage successfully. In regards to stable duties, I am competent in all necessary jobs such mucking out, turning in and out horses, grooming, clipping and maintaining a tidy yard.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I have always dealt with challenging horses both on the ground and ridden. I am very confident around and on naughty ponies, and pride myself on having a good seat, where I have ridden many different difficult horses. Practice makes perfect! Therefore, I would be a good help for any horse that needs some work, to become safer.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Horses have been a part of my life forever, and I hope will always be. So being able to call my passion “work” is a privilege. Whether that’s riding, or simply tidying the yard, I love being surrounded by them!
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would love to improve on my turn out skills. I can plait and attempt quarter marks however it would be great to improve it to a high standard.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am an extremely hard worker, and very reliable. Once I am given a job, I put 100% into that, and do my best to not let anyone down. I think that is a skill that is necessary in any role.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would love to be able to ride, I am a light handed and quiet seated rider and am kind to the horses I ride yet still ride enough to ensure I am listened to. I am versatile in my riding and can adapt well with different horses. I believe the more you ride the more you learn no matter what so am always willing to get on something!
