Experience with Horses

I was a Head Groom – 30/08/2014 – 16/03/2018

I was in charge of all of all horses that were bred for show jumping.

I did all turn out, bring in mucking out, poo picking, tack cleaning, riding the older horses that would be for sale. I also did all the breaking process’ for the 3 and 4 year olds for them to go on to continue their education.

I have owned my own pony from the age of 3 years old. I am very knowledgeable with all tasks that will need to be carried out, for example all aspects of yard duties =, stables poo picking, fence maintenance.  I know how to care for all horses to a very high standard.

I have competed in one day eventing with BE, BD and BSJA. I have a real passion for show jumping, however I completely understand the importance of flat work.

I have competed up to fox hunter level in show jumping.

I have experience with youngstock, mares and foals, stallions extremely fit competition horses.

I have just finished backing and riding away my 16.2 Irish Sports horse that turned 4 years old in May this year.

Key Skills

I am have a keen eye for perfection, and hold so much passion for horses. I can clip to a high standard. I can plait up, and turn out to a good standard for shows.

I can pull manes and tails and groom them to a high standard. I am happy to ride anything from breakers to high level competition horses.

I can notice if a horse is not feeling themselves and can go through the process of elimination to work out what is wrong. I can work alone and in company managing to stay focused and professional.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

EVERYTHING! Genuinely there is no job I dislike, from riding, fencing to tack cleaning and all the jobs in between I enjoy it all. It’s a lifestyle.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Plaiting – I can do it but to get those perfect balls along the horses neck- that’s a goal!

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am passionate and will deliver the same care as if they were my own horses. I love being outside no matter the weather. I have a friendly, bubbly personality. I like to continue to grow and develop. I am hardworking and love to keep busy. I am a trustworthy reliable person who thrives to be the best they can be.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I want to return to paid employment with horses and enjoy work again, while keeping fit. I know working with horses this is more than achievable.
