1. Future Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I have spent the last 18 months developing my skills in a competition environment – here I have gained knowledge at away shows and also gained experience handling for competition horses, stallions and foals. I’d love to maintain this knowledge with potential to keep developing.
Previously I’d worked at a professional riding school and livery yard – I throughly enjoyed livery as I was fulfilled by keeping the yard clean and tidy and my clients  being happy with the care for their horses so this is the environment I believe I’ll thrive in.

• Do you need accommodation?

Preferably yes

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I have a lovely sprocker spaniel.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

No.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

No.

Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I am 22 years old and have worked with horses and ridden since I was 13 years old. I volunteered for 3 years at the yard I rode at based in Ash Vale in Surrey, where I done the basic yard duties of poo picking, Haynets/haying the fields (horses lived out), grooming the horses and also being a riding school, making sure horses were clean and tacked up to a high standard.
I then began an apprenticeship when I was 17 at Sharcombe stables based in Frimley Green – whilst working on this yard I expanded my knowledge by caring for horses who lived in and out – learning to muck out for liveries to a high standard, get horses ready for riding, grooming, turning out and bringing in, clipping and trimming, maintaining the yard to a high standard keeping it clean and tidy at all times.
I then moved on from this due to personal reasons and started some work at an at home yard for a family of an eventer and dressage rider, where I expanded my knowledge even more and got some confidence working around some stronger horses and ensuring I worked to a time scale and kept the yard presentable with support of my already known knowledge.
In Feb 2022 I moved to Wellington Riding as a trainee coach/groom – at Wellington I have expanded my riding knowledge and have gained my BHS stage 1 complete exam and trainer towards my BHS stage 2 complete. At Wellington I done a mixture of work, coaching and doing some grooming for livery clients and also going to do some cover work on HKJC.
I left Wellington in June 2024 and have since worked for an international dressage rider. Here I have had masses of experience gained going to stay away shows, being sole charge and handling many types of horses and young stock.

As a person I believe I am passionate and hard working, I can work quickly when needed or take my time if necessary, either way taking attention to detail well. I enjoy working in a team or as an individual.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

i believe I am efficient with my time keeping but still ensuring the yard Is kept clean and tidy at all times and the horses care is a priority.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

The rewards of seeing the horses happy and healthy.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

My knowledge on the industry over all and expanding and developing my grooming skills.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I really believe I take pride and care in my work. Horses will always be the priority and I will always give 110%. I have spent the past 18 months really growing my confidence as a person and taking sole charge which I have enjoyed. I have experience coaching clients of all ages which I believe makes me adaptable and have that little bit of extra knowledge if needed. Overall I think I strive in an environment where I can be challenged but then rewarded with the positive outcome.
