Experience with Horses

I have ridden horses for fourteen years. I was a volunteer at a stable yard from the age of fourteen to sixteen, when I then became formally employed as a stable hand/groom alongside completing my City and Guilds Level 3 Extended Diploma in Equine Management. I have plaited horses for competitions and parties and aided in organising and running events such as competitions and open days at Bishop Burton College
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I work well with others and alone as required. I have some experience clipping, and regularly plaited and groomed horses for competitions and events. I have handled young horses and nervous horses in the past. I also have experience working with children around horses and disabled individuals as the riding school I worked for was a Riding with the Disabled accredited yard. I work with efficiency and effective time management. I am confident in all environments and passionate about my work.

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy being around the animals and ensuring they are given the best care possible. I am passionate about ensuring everything is perfect and acceptable for an animal to operate within.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve my grooming skills and I am always open to learning new techniques and skills as I believe there is always room for improvement
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am extremely passionate about work and horses, and have dedicated my life to them. I have never owned my own horse but have put in the work to gain the needed experience. I believe that not owning my own horse has allowed me to appreciate horses more as I do not get to spend all my time with them, so I savour the time I do have with them.
