Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding for over 30 years, owning my own horses when I was younger. I have a First Class degree in International Equine and Agricultural Business Management for the Royal Agricultural University. I completed 6 months work experience in Kentucky at a Rehabilitation Centre and worked as a groom in livery, competition and hunting yards. I travelled to New Zealand where I rode and competed Endurance horses, from just backed to international level horses. I have 3 years managing an Equestrian Centre at a public school, providing strategic leadership for all riding provision and 20 horse livery yard.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am organised, passionate, extremely hard-working and friendly, with a wide-range of equine, agricultural and business experience and proven ability to lead and manage using a collaborative approach. I have received consistent positive feedback in a variety of positions which required outstanding customer service, with advanced verbal, IT and written communication skills.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
The challenge of something new everyday. I also love working outside and being practical even in the managerial jobs I have held.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Continuing to develop my ability to support young riders to reach their full potential.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I demonstrate a professional, pro-active and self-motivated attitude, being calm under pressure and very keen to take on new challenges. I am quick to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities and thrive in situations which require problem solving, flexibility and the opportunity to grow and develop.
