Experience with Horses

I can perform all the general everyday yard duties that need to be done, including filling hay nets, tying up hay nets, mucking out, filling water troughs, cleaning buckets, making feeds, turning horses out, and bringing them in.

I have been working on an eventing yard at my most recent place of work as an apprentice, where I have gained experience in preparing for and attending competitions, cleaning stud holes and putting studs in, tacking up/untacking horses, driving a quad bike, and hot-washing horses. By working on a busy competition yard, I have gained experience working in stressful environments and meeting deadlines.

I am skilled at working independently and am a conscientious worker, striving to work efficiently to benefit everyone on the yard. I have previously worked on preparing horses for shows, ensuring they look well-presented and are packed with the necessary tack and any additional items the rider will need. I have experience working with horses of various ages and levels of experience.

 

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy being busy and working outdoors. I have always worked with horses, as they are my passion. Working with horses has a rough routine to the day, with no two days being the same, which I enjoy.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I want to improve my skills in non-ridden exercises (lunging, lomg-reining, etc.) and clipping, as I have limited experience in these areas.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

Employers should consider me, because I am a conscientious worker, I am always punctual and good at time-keeping. I work efficiently and quickly to help out as much as I can.
