Future Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I am looking for a role that involves full involvement in daily stable and horse care routines, while also having the opportunity to continue riding where possible. Maintaining and developing my riding is important to me as part of my ongoing growth as a horseperson, alongside gaining solid professional experience in a structured yard environment.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes. Accommodation is required. Ideally, there would be the possibility for my partner to join me, although we are not a working couple. He works fully remotely and would continue his role from home. My work responsibilities and focus would be entirely within the yard.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No. I will not be bringing any animals with me.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No ongoing commitments.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
I have a short volunteering commitment related to an international equestrian event at the end of May (approximately 4 days), as well as a planned holiday in July (approximately 11th to 25th).
Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have long-term involvement in the equestrian world, having started riding in 2009 and remaining active until 2015, mainly focused on show jumping. In 2023, I returned to horses with a more mature, welfare-focused and horsemanship-based approach.
Since then, my experience has been developed through horse ownership, riding and daily care routines, as well as supporting my instructor, particularly during competition periods. This has included grooming, feeding routines, preparing and tacking up horses, turnout and paddock management, lunging, assisting with basic stable duties and maintaining consistent standards of care.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
- Working independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and consistent with daily routines
- Grooming, tacking up and preparing horses for riding
- Lunging and basic bandaging
- Turnout and paddock management
- Handling and supporting young horses
- Calm, attentive handling and welfare-focused approach
- Strong organisation and responsibility from a professional background outside the equestrian industry
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
What I enjoy most is building a genuine connection with horses through daily care, groundwork and clear, calm communication. I value working on the horse’s terms, developing trust, consistency and understanding through handling and observation, and seeing how this translates into a more relaxed, responsive and confident horse both on the ground and under saddle.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to continue developing my hands-on experience within professional yards, particularly in refining my practical skills and gaining more exposure to different systems and levels of operation. I am motivated to keep learning and improving through experience and guidance.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I bring a combination of genuine commitment to horses, a strong work ethic and a mature, responsible mindset. I take this transition into professional equestrian work seriously and am not looking for a lifestyle experience, but for a role where I can contribute reliably, learn continuously and grow within a professional environment. I am calm, focused, dependable and fully aware of the realities and demands of stable work.
