Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

Growing up, I was consistently around horses, and from the ages from 13-18, I volunteered and worked at multiple stables, working alongside the household cavalry. I haven’t worked with horses since prior to beginning my degree, however I am confident that my skills such as mucking out, turning in/out, aiding in lessons, tacking up and down, health checking, washing etc, are second nature to me.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I enjoy both working alone, but also in a team, and while I can be relied on to get tasks done on my own, I do like working with other people. I am very confident in the ‘behind the scenes’ skills, such as grooming, mucking out, and tacking up or untacking horses. I am quite handy, and am happy to do yard repairs.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy how rewarding it is, and I love learning the individual personalities of each horse and bonding with them.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to improve and learn more about clipping and plaiting.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I have a wide range of experience, and I always aim to keep improving and learning,
