Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have owned and ridden horses since i was little, having gone through the pony club i then got my current horse 8 years ago from national hunt yard. Having only hunted he has now become a BE100 horse with capabilities to do novice at the right events. I have hunted ll my life with the chid lec with experience leading and helping at childrens meets etc. I did work experience at a professional showing yard with responsibilities such as mucking out grooming and helping riding.

I have basic veterinary experience such as knowing signs of colic and lameness, bandaging and dressing wounds etc having completed my C+ test with hopes to do my B test over the summer. I would love to progress my riding to a higher level if i ever found the right horse as although my current horse has taught me a lot and we would never sell him he doesn’t have the scope to move up the levels

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am a stickler for good turnout and can plait, clip, pull to a high standered. I work well in teams but can take initiative for my self and complete tasks to a high level. although no professional experience handling stallions i have got experience handling young and or sharp horses as well as OTTBs

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Spending time with them-although i do love the riding and it is my main passion horses are incredibly calming. If i’ve had a stressful day the first thing i would do is go to the yard

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

My riding abilities-i would consider myslef a very capable rider however i would love the opportunity to ride different horses on both end of the spectrum-young and teachable as well as school masters who can teach me.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m incredibly hard working and resilient (i know that’s what most people say) and i don’t mind early mornings or late nights. I would bring a fun atmosphere to a team-although seeming shy at first once people get to know me a bring some humour and have a bubble personality
