Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have a passion for horses and did some horse care and riding when younger and around 10 years ago, I have also started volunteering in a local equestrian riding centre which I am really enjoying, learning the role of an Equine Groom and assisting Riding instructor too.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

Mucking out, grooming, feeding, preparing stables, horse bedding, cleaning up horse poo in the training yards, assisting riding instructors, working as part of a team. I have extensive experience in mentoring, supervising, supporting disabled adults at University level. I have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and am confident. I bring a calm, humour and a patient approach to horse handling and a fierce determination to support the success of the team and the safety and wellbeing of every horse in my care.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Everything, from mucking out, to feeding to riding and being part of a successful team.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Being the best Equine Groom I can!

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am very hardworking and I don’t shy away from hard work. I am a team player and really helpful to all. Unwavering Work Ethic: I understand that horses don’t take days off. While others might struggle with the physical demands or early starts, I thrive on the routine. I am weather-proof and arrive every day with the same high energy and “can-do” attitude, regardless of the muck or the rain. I am a “blank slate” in the best way; I have no bad habits and a massive hunger to learn. I treat every horse in my care as if they were my own, ensuring turn-out and hygiene are always at a professional standard. I am always happy to stay late to help my colleagues.
