Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have 15 years experience as the FEI show groom for international showjumping competitions, I have been driving the truck all over Europe and the USA, I have done tours in the UAE, Europe and USA. I have managed my string of 7 horses and assumed total responsibility for their care, nutrition and all veterinary/farrier scheduling.
I am an efficient worker with the understanding of working on a schedule in a clean and calm manner, getting the daily tasks done quickly and properly as needed.
I can clip, braid, bandage and treat minor ailments. I have taken sole charge of my current farm multiple times and have successfully maintained a high level of care for the horses.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am very good at most tasks needed for the role of home groom/showgroom, ie: clipping, braiding, lunging, bandaging, first aid, transport, liaising with team/clients/owners/vets and farriers. I do enjoy being part of a team however sometimes I understand the need to get the job done and that can mean working alone.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love the horses, I enjoy knowing I help in achieving their success and contribute to their ongoing health and well-being.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I need to work on my communication skills when I’m tired and can be a little frustrated when things aren’t done to the full extent or done properly at all.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am a loyal, hardworking, dedicated grown up. I am looking to invest myself in a team that is happy and energetic with ambition for the sport. I would be valued as I have many years of diversified experience and understand the weight of the responsibility to keep the horses going well and happy.
