Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am particularly good at handling and caring for horses of all types, including stallions, young horses, and ex-racehorses I am retraining. I am confident with daily yard routines, grooming, feeding, and turnout, and have experience running my own stables, which has strengthened my organisational skills and attention to detail.

I work well both independently and as part of a team, always prioritising the horses’ welfare. I am skilled in fitness work, understanding individual temperaments, and adapting my approach to suit each horse. While I haven’t clipped, plaited, or turned out for shows recently, I am confident I will pick these skills up quickly. My patience, consistency, and dedication make me a reliable and adaptable member of any yard.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

What I most enjoy about working with horses is building trust and understanding with each individual horse. I find it incredibly rewarding to see progress develop through consistent care, patience, and routine, whether that’s improving fitness, retraining, or simply seeing a horse relaxed and content in its environment.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am also keen to expand my understanding of professional training methods and yard management techniques, so I can take on greater responsibility and support the team more effectively.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

Employers should consider me because I combine genuine passion for horse welfare with practical, hands-on experience. Having owned and managed my own stables, I understand the responsibility, organisation, and consistency required to maintain high standards every day. I am not afraid of hard work and take pride in being reliable, efficient, and attentive to detail. I love a clean, tidy yard!
