Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
A highly experienced and dedicated equestrian with over 30 years of practical horse care and riding experience. Professional, reliable, and motivated, with a work ethic and excellent organisational ability. Experienced in managing horses over the years and producing my own youngsters, with a patient, welfare-focused approach to horse care and training. Confident working independently or as part of a team, and accustomed to taking responsibility in busy, high-pressure environments. I bring transport knowledge, administrative ability, and health & safety awareness alongside hands-on yard experience and a genuine passion for equine welfare.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
- 30+ years hands-on horse care experience
- Competition and show preparation
- Feeding regimes and fitness management
- Equine welfare monitoring
- Yard organisation and daily stable management
- Handling young, sensitive, and fit horses
- High standards of turnout and yard presentation
- Assisting riders with horse management and confidence
- Reliable, punctual, and physically fit
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
What I enjoy most about working with horses is the relationship and trust that develops through daily care and consistent handling. I find great satisfaction in seeing improvement, whether that’s through correct schooling, fitness work, or simply good management. Producing youngsters and managing my ex-racehorse has taught me patience, responsibility, and the importance of getting the basics right.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’m always looking to improve my knowledge, particularly in areas such as equine fitness and rehabilitation management. While I have many years of practical experience, I believe there’s always more to learn, especially with evolving training methods and welfare.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Employers should consider me because I bring over 30 years of hands-on horse experience alongside professional reliability and organisational skills gained from outside the equestrian industry. I’m used to responsibility, health and safety compliance, transport management, and working under pressure. I combine practical horsemanship with maturity, strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to equine welfare.
