Future Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
My goal is to be able to use my vast experience with horses and the equine industry to either care someones personal horses or to find a top rider from which I might continue to learn. I would welcome the opportunity to care for a personal stable with a relaxed environment, keeping the horses healthy and happy. That said, I would also appreciate working for a top rider (4* or 5* FEI) that I could learn from, preferably in dressage or jumpers.
• Do you need accommodation?
Location dependent, yes
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have one very well behaved and horse savvy dog.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
Not at this time
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
Not at this time
Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding for over 14 years and have been working in the equine industry for the past 10 years. I have produced my personal horse from knowing nothing to being a solid 2* event horse as well as producing / helping to produce multiple other young horses confidently through the lower levels of eventing. I have been trained by the 5* event rider Jennifer Wooten for all of my competitive career and worked for her for many years as well assisting with farm management, coaching, and training the horses in her care. I have groomed for riders at the FEI level and pride myself on prioritizing the horses health and well-being at all times.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I have experienced with and am quite good at the following :
- working alone
- working with others
- clipping
- plaiting
- turning out for shows
- handling/riding young horses
- showing horses for sale
- driving with a trailer (experience only in the USA)
- dealing with emergencies
- everything that would be expected from a facility manager / show groom
- and much more, please inquire
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I really enjoy getting to know the best parts of each horse and seeing them improve and grow over time. I also love the outdoor nature of the work and that I am able to keep moving to stay healthy.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would love to grow my riding abilities but given where they are, it would have to be a very select individual whom I may learn from. I am also always happy to learn more about horses, their training, veterinary conditions and care, etc.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I have been working in the industry for a long time and have learned from some of the most respected / top event riders in the US. I would love to put my education and high level of care to use for the mutual betterment of your horses and my skills.
