Future Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would ideally like to work in a place where

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

No

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I am currently working till May, then have a wedding to attend till mid-June so available to start new employment from 18th-20th of June ideally.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

Apart from the one above, no. If I were to come work in Europe I would like a few days over Christmas off as half of my family lives in France and I do not often see them living on the other side of the world.

Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I obtained my French Galop 7 back in 2009 and eventually decided I wanted to become a riding instructor a while later whilst on a working holiday visa in Australia. I passed the Intro Coaching and Level 1 Coaching Equestrian Australia, working simultaneously at a riding school in Sydney. I coached people from 2017-2023 in Australia and New-Zealand and had a short 2 years break to work in the health insurance sector.

When moving to NZ in 2009 to go to University, I graduated with a Bachelor in Commerce, majoring in Marketing and started hunting and eventing. I competed up to 120cm SJ, 105 eventing (current 1*), and still hunt to this day!

I am currently working in Osaka, Japan for the Sugitani family (Masayu Sugitani, Taizo Sugitani – SJ Olympic riders) as a home groom/rider for their privately owned riding club.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I can work by myself or alone.

Maybe a blessing in disguise but I am very good at spotting lameness…

On the bright side, I can scissor cut a mane to look natural, hunting turn out, riding all types of horses, IM, bandage, etc.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

People can be difficult. Horses are very good at keeping us in check, making sure we don’t get too big for our shoes and they also allow me to work in silence for a good part of the day!

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

My core strength.
Probably lots of things that need improving/refining but I cannot think of it right now.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

Plenty of varied experience, I did not include in my CV my other work experiences such as Customer Service Consultant (health insurance) or retail sales assistant, but I do believe that working in the equine industry includes some customer service to a certaine extent, especially when dealing with coaching, sellers/buyers, owners etc.

I also have no partner and no children, nor am I looking to get any anytime soon.
