Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I’ve been around horses pretty much my whole life. I grew up with my own horses and have continued to keep and ride them up to now, so day-to-day horse care is something I’m very comfortable with. Over the years I’ve also worked on a number of different yards, which has given me experience with a wide range of horses, routines, and yard setups.

My experience includes general yard duties such as mucking out, turning out and bringing in, feeding, grooming, tack cleaning, and basic yard maintenance. I’m confident handling different types of horses, including younger or more sensitive ones, and I’m used to working both independently and as part of a team to keep a yard running smoothly.

Because I’ve had my own horses as well as working on yards, I understand the level of care and attention horses need and I take pride in making sure they’re well looked after. I’m reliable, hardworking, and happy to get stuck into whatever needs doing around the yard.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I’m confident with general horse care and day-to-day yard work, including mucking out, grooming, tacking up, feeding, turning out and bringing in. I’m comfortable handling different types of horses and working in a busy yard environment.

I work well both independently and as part of a team, and I’m reliable, hardworking, and organised. I take pride in keeping the yard tidy and making sure the horses are well looked after.

I’m always keen to improve my skills and learn more. I’d particularly like to get better at things like plaiting and show preparation, and I’m always happy to learn from others and take on new tasks.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I really enjoy working outdoors and building a connection with horses!

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Plaiting skills

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

Employers should consider me because I have genuine, long-term experience with horses from both owning them and working on different yards. Horses have always been a big part of my life, so I understand the responsibility and level of care they require.

I’m hardworking, reliable, and not afraid of the physical side of yard work. I’m happy to get stuck into any task that needs doing and I always try to keep things organised and running smoothly.

I’m also calm and patient around horses and comfortable handling different types and temperaments. On top of that, I’m always willing to learn and improve my skills, so I’m keen to keep developing and becoming even better at the job.
