Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding horses since I was 6 years old, and working in livery on and off for about 4 years. – the last stint being for about 2 years. I’m comfortable working on my own or as part of a team, and fully competent at all yard duties. I have also competed in showjumping and working hunters, and sometimes a show groom for my previous trainer depending on the show. I have worked with all kinds of horses, including riding and backing young horses. I have taught people to ride and always got on very well with livery and lesson clients.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc.
All round yard skills – mucking out, turning out, clipping, washing, feeding, riding, jumping.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Horses are my life. No matter what the weather, no matter what time of day it is, whatever the task, working with horses motivates me to get on and just do it.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
my riding skills, competing skills, yard management, training, general horse welfare.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I have quite a lot of experience for my age but I know that there is so much more to learn.
