Experience with Horses
Owned horses all my life and competed since I was 3.. showing, showjumping, eventing, dressage, PC – qualified and rode at HOYS 2007, qualified various BSPS and Arena UK shows, competed on PC teams
Worked at Gemma Stevens Eventing 2017
Produced my own Dutch Warmblood to Novice level from a freshly broken 4 year old, produced freshly broken connemara ponies to sell on
Completed Horse Bit Fit Intro Lantra course of bit and bridle fitting. This included bits, bridles, mouth conformation, physiology and dynamics. As senior yard assistant at Bishop Burton College I was in charge of bits, bridles and over seeing saddle fit. Also shadowed GT saddles closely to learn from and help with the assessment and fitting of saddles.
In my role at Bishop Burton College(2021-2024), I was a big part in supporting the yard manager with welfare of horses, training programmes (doing the ride list for several months before we hired new manager), nutrition for different horses such as cobs, warmbloods, EMS/cushings, horses that couldn’t eat fibre (hay)! and supporting & educating students in their studies. Always work safely and able to avoid potential issues (such as students tying horses up in stable, putting head over the door and lead rope potentially getting caught on bolt)
Key Skills
Happy to work alone, take sole charge or with others
Handling/riding youngstock and competition horses (have handled stallions but not lots of experience with this)
Trimming, clipping, bathing
Diligent & hardworking
Approachable
Tidy
On the ball with management of horses, for example I am good at looking, hearing or feeling if something isn’t quite right
Very keen to learn and further my knowledge in all spheres!
If I don’t pick up your call, please leave a voicemail or email (I work long hours!)
