Experience with Horses
I’m planning some travel and volunteering with horses for a bit – I will be available from late September 2025. I will be looking for a permanent role abroad somewhere within the next year or so after that.
I have always had a passion for horses and began riding at the age of 10. As a teenager, I devoted all my free time to working at a local yard and rode for the yard manager until I went to university. In my 20s, I lived in Taiwan, where I worked as a rider and instructor before returning to the UK to complete my British Horse Society exams. Since then, horses have taken me all over the world—including Africa and the Caribbean—and I feel incredibly grateful to have turned my passion into a way of life.
Most recently, I’ve worked in South Africa, schooling young horses, leading trail rides, and supporting safari-based equestrian tourism. A few years ago, I spent a season managing the yard on the private island of Mustique, where I taught riders of all levels, trained staff, led treks, and ensured top-tier care for 15 horses and ponies in a luxury environment.

I’m a sympathetic, adaptable rider who enjoys working with all types of horses; every horse has something to teach you. I take pride in being an honest, enthusiastic, and dedicated instructor, always looking to improve and expand my knowledge.
Going forward, I’d like to build my confidence over bigger fences and gain more competition experience here in the UK. I’m also keen to deepen my knowledge of horsemanship and work more closely with so-called “problem” horses, who, based on my experience, are often simply misunderstood and need time, patience, and a tailored approach.
