Experience with Horses
I am a highly motivated equine professional, with particular interests in equine breeding, rehabilitation, and exercise.
General yard duties and horse husbandry: leading, turning in/out, mucking/skipping out, rugging, grooming and washing, bandaging, mane pulling, preparing and distibuting feeds, administering medications and treatments, exercising and riding. Comfortable handling stallions, youngsters, foals, broodmares. Experience as a competition groom.
Typical farm duties and maintenance including repairing fences, gardening and mowing, cleaning, organisation. Grading of riding arena. Chain harrowing.
Heavy lifting; wheelbarrows, shavings bales, hay bales.
Driving farmyard machinery; farm utility cart (golf-buggy-type-vehicle), quad bikes, 4WD utility trucks, ride-along-mowers, small utility vehicle.
Exercise and rehabilitation; long-reining and lunging a variety of horses ranging from youngsters to schoolmasters going through rehabilitation. Observation and involvement with equine veterinary, physiotherapy, farriery, and massage sessions.
Harness racing: Correct usage and application of specific tack and equipment.
Breeding: Artificial insemination processes; semen collection and insemination, teaser mare handling, stallion mount training, stallion handling, foal handling, assisting in birthing, foal watch, monitoring mares’ pre-birth symptoms (general behaviour, udder shape/size, milk production, calcium and pH testing).
Microscopic analysis of equine semen and faeces (worm counts).

BHS progressive Riding Test Equitation levels 1-5.
BHS Stable Management levels 1-3.
