Experience with Horses

I have been around horses and started riding at 6 years. Over the years of working with horses, I have gained knowledge of horse care and worked at three riding schools and livery yards. I have looked after a wide range of horses from the Shetlands to the Cyclades.  I have experience doing general yard duties, from mucking out, feeding, tack cleaning, hay-nets, and turning out. As well as general yard duties helping to manage farrier list, physio, work levels and ordering feed and bedding. Also can turn horse out to a high standard for shows. Whilst working on yards I have learnt and can confidently complete field check with different vehicles, fixing fencing and manging field plan.

I have experience riding young horses and helping to retrain rescue horses. I can walk, trot, canter, jump to 1 metre and ride in the open. I also can lunge, long rein and free school to help horse improve and progress.

I have achieved my  stage 3 care and lunge in July 2024

I also have my Stage 2 Coach and have experience coaching in summer camps, pony days, RDA lessons, group and private lessons.

Key Skills

I’m good at working both alone and as part of a team, I know how to work to set times and make sure everything needs to be done on time, I have learnt this through working on busy yards where horses need to be ready for lessons on time, as well as in my own life through studying and working a full time job.  I have the skills to make sure horses get the care they need on a daily basis by being aware of horse behaviours.  I can handle young horses and have experience working with foals and young horses on the ground.

I can help manage a team making sure everyone knows what needs to be done and what the priorities of the day are, being responsible for making sure things are done to a high standard and basic jobs aren’t forgotten on busy days.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

What I enjoy most when working with horses is the connection you make with the horses and helping to give them the best quality of life.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would to improve me knowledge when it comes to higher level of nutritional needs, I am currently doing a course on this to help improve my knowledge

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I have previous experience with horses and am not a fair-weather person. I go above and beyond to make sure horses are cared for and am always happy to lend an extra hand when needed. I have experience and the ability to confidently  be sole charge, work well in a team or help manage one.
