Job Description
The Equestrian Affairs Department aims to fulfil the Club’s vision to promote riding as a sport and raise participation at all levels, from beginner through to elite. It oversees the management of four equestrian centres, including the Member’s facility at the Beas River Country Club and three public riding schools at Tuen Mun, Lei Yue Mun Park and Pok Fu Lam.
The (Senior) Equestrian Coach will report to the Senior Manager, Equestrian. He/She will be responsible for, but not exclusively, the duties listed below, working 48 hours per week on a roster basis in public riding schools.
Job Duties
Deliver quality services to customers
- conduct riding lessons and organise equestrian activities for riders, ensuring excellent quality services
- be open to feedback from clients and improve performance accordingly
- support administration team to provide timely and efficient services to members
Enhance riding establishment safety standards
- follow company safety directives, observe & promote safety guidelines & initiatives
- school horses and ponies regularly to maintain good behaviour and well being
- review & examine tack to ensure safety and optimum fit for horses
Support Senior Manager, Equestrian, Veterinarian and Farrier in day to day operations
- ensure the best welfare and well-being of horses and ponies by cooperating with Equestrian Supervisors and Equestrian Assistants (EA) etc
- follow instructions from professional staff
- communicate information to fellow coaches, EA’s as necessary
- provide feedback to professional staff and management
Upgrade staff competency and qualifications
- make the most of developmental & career opportunities offered
- help team members to upgrade their skills
- provide on-job-training to colleagues
- encourage exam targets and career progression
Liaise with other HKJC Departments, government departments and private sectors upon request of Senior Equestrian Coach
- attend weekly coach meeting
- assist with & support BREC events, shows and clinics, and encourage clients to participate
- promote equestrian sports off site through roadshows and HKJC Events
Align with Senior Equestrian Coach to manage day-to-day operations
- aim to continually increase efficiency of riding school business levels
- work closely with administration team to facilitate lessons and requests
- promote client participation in in-house activities and BREC events
- support and adhere to HKJC and EAD management policies and procedures
Complete coaches administration tasks
- submit horse allocation requests one day before
- prepare and submit accident report within 24 hours
- complete daily schooling and lesson attendance records
Undertake any other duties as assigned by Senior Equestrian Coach or their approved delegates
Requirements
- The job holder must have acquired BHS Qualifications Level 4 (Stage 4) or equivalent qualification to be considered as a Senior Equestrian Coach
- Candidates acquired BHS Stage 3 Complete or equivalent qualification will be considered as an Equestrian Coach
- Have a knowledge of training methods for schooling a variety of horses both under saddle and from the ground; previous experience of working with thoroughbreds would be advantageous
- be a holder of first-aid certificate
- Personable, enthusiastic and positive personality
- Passion for horses and horse riding
- Fluency in English is highly preferrable
