Private eventing yard in a quiet rural setting in beautiful countryside with horses from 4yo to 4* in Northamptonshire is now looking for a sole charge, long-term experienced Groom/Rider to care for 3-4 competition horses plus a couple of team chasing/hunt horses to fill the winter months, (never more than 7.) The Employer/Rider competes 100 – advanced level. 5.5 day week. Some weekends off by prior arrangement. The role entails normal stable duties, including professional day-to-day management of competition horses, liaising with vet, farrier etc. All normal stable duties required but you will be expected to work under your own steam, take sole charge and be able to demonstrate initiative. Looking for someone confident who wants to take ownership of the position and work with the rider on a collaborative basis. HGV and/or trailer license a bonus or must be willing to be put through the test. Employer can be flexible as to whether this is a stay -at- home or travelling position or a mix of the two. At the very least, the stay -at- home role would still involve trips out to training/schooling and to one day events and BS shows. You must be able to offer a good level of turnout, (including clipping). You will be in sole charge a lot of the time, so you will need to have experience of this and ideally previous event grooming experience, but certainly previous sport horse and/or show experience. You will need to be able to ride well enough to keep ticking horses over when the owner is away (needs to be able to hack and gallop/fittening work with horses as and when required). Please contact Caroline & The Team on 0203 006 5730 or email caroline@carolinecarterrecruitment.com
