Job Description

Looking for a junior stud groom to join our small team on our small but busy commercial stud. We breed from our own herd of mares as as well as taking client mares in for breeding, stand our own and outside stallions at stud, dummy train, foal down and present for gradings. Our own stallions are ridden and competed in various disciplines.

The job involves all general yard work and duties, all elements of horse care and assisting with stud duties. This is not a riding position but some riding can be available for the right applicant.

Experience in stud work is not essential as we are very happy to train in stud skills but you must be confident and capable in safely handling all types of horses and not be easily intimidated by a fresh or noisy stallion or a bouncy foal! We are looking for an applicant who will fit in well with our close-knit team, pull their own weight and who is fundamentally interested in progressing in stud work. The right applicant will need to be an excellent communicator, relatively fit and capable of yard work to a high standard with strong attention to detail and pride in their work and the horses they look after. The role may suit someone with some equine industry experience who is now looking to specialise and learn new skills.

Minimum Requirements

Some professional experience is required, ideally both in and away from horses.
