This lovely family have houses in Oxfordshire and London. They live in London Monday-Thurs but in Oxfordshire full time during the school holidays.
There are two teenage daughters, one a keen equestrienne and the other, mostly recreational. Parents are non-riders but like to attend shows with the youngest.
These roles are suited to those used to sole charge, self-starters with enthusiasm, attention to detail and flexibility.
There are 10 stables and will be 6 horses currently, to include youngsters, so prior experience in this area is key.
Some weekends off by prior arrangement, but most of the competitions in the season are at weekends and planned ahead
Use of a car/ but own car essential.
Purpose-built equestrian facilities. Menage. 35 acres (grazing/gardens/woodlands and lakes).
2-bedroom staff apartment being built, but use of a nice 3-bedroom house in the meantime.
ROLE 1 Duties will include, but are not limited to:Â
- Competition groom for a capable and talented eventing teenager who competes BE90 and 100. You should be capable of organising and booking competitions
- You will be happy to fully support the young rider at off site training/BE Youth camps/Frontrunners (a group of 40 young riders run by two GB coaches).
- Rider (ideally) – Hacking out (and schooling if appropriate skills)
- Mucking out/Turn out/Feeding/Clipping/Lunging/Managing vets/farrier/physio/water treadmill/tack cleaning/Maintaining lorries (taking for garage for services etc) and regular cleaning /Managing field and muck heap maintenance/Rug maintenance/occasional night away may be required.
- To drive 3.5 or 4t lorry. Ideally, HGV licensed but will be sponsored through test if required
- Dog minding
ROLE 2Â Duties will include, but are not limited to:Â
- Family driver for children and employers.
- Mowing lawns
- Trimming hedges and trees
- Leaf clearing/blowing in the Autumn
- Drive cleaning
- Jet washing
- Responsibility for all vehicle maintenance/servicing and cleaning
- Ad hoc handy man jobs (changing bulbs, fixing fences, putting up Christmas trees/lights)
- Cleaning gutters
- Repainting/retouching external paintwork.
- Managing river (putting sluice gates up in flood conditions)
- Vegetable gardening
- Field maintenance/help with poo picking
- Support for groom when required.
- Small building works/maintenance.
- Dog minding
